Now back to Mr Rees as Aysha and Megan have to have a coffe to recover from their efforts. This post is being written in a little (for NY) shopping center near Columbus Center which is our local Subway stop. It is right near the Trump Hotel and the famous sculpture of the Earth that you will see in the pics form day 1. This is 5 minutes walk from our Hotel we are very lucky with location. This afternoon after a visit to 5th avenue we walked back across a snow covered Central Park to the Hotel it took us fifteen minutes including having to slow down to not get Emma Cresswell shoes muddy (we succeeded in keeping them clean). Speaking of Emma it is worth having a look at the pics of her and Clara with the life size model of the Knicks basketball star from Madame Tussauds this morning.
the Photos from the morning and yesterday are up follow the link on the side thanks to Mr Ling and Mr Hall for their camerawork. Coffee time I think.
Early start after our marathon journey. 6 am and the YMCA pool is filled with the early-birds getting their morning fitness sessions in. After a brief, we off exploring NY hitting Central Park and bombarding each other with snowballs and getting a good old stroll in to one of NY most iconic environments.
NY is vast! To that end Miss Spark had hooked up one of the coach tours to zig-zag our way back and forth across The Big Apple. Amusing tour guide knew a lot about chick-flicks and rom-coms nothing about Die Hard With A Vengeance much to Mr Ling chagrin and knew even more about the tallest buildings in New York and what each building was made out of. Fine view of Grand Central Station and Matt Hill and Callum Bryant had a great time calling out to each other through some odd architectural phenomenon that allowed you to hear a whisper from the opposite corner of the hall. Although, arguably with the volume of Matt Hill voice this was unnecessary!
Today we went to madam tussauds!! in times square! we had a talk about the business and history of Madam Tussauds!! then took loaddds of pictures with the stars aysha and megan did! stars such as brad pitt to Barack Obama !! then we got to shop on times square, and then on 5th avenue!

Macy in the morning to explore the marketing of the biggest Department Store in the world. The students enjoyed the time browsing through the various sections and came away with in Chloe Bird case particularly armfuls of shopping! You can hear Chloe Collingwood thoughts on Macy in our video interview entry
It no mean feat to herd 60 people around one of the worlds busiest cities and staff were literally tearing their hair out whilst students try to avoid all manner of slush and ice at every kerb. Fun on the subways too and quite nice to see the amused look on the faces of NY citizens surprised to see a gang of Bristolians act all amazed at being on one of the most famous transport systems in the world abercrombie and fitch sale.
The afternoon was followed up with students exploring the top of the Rockefeller Centre. You know this from the famous image of the construction workers seemingly suspended precariously over New York on a steel girder. The views of New York 5 boroughs (Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Staten Island abercrombie and fitch, and Queens) were amazing and you can see some of the photos here.
John Cabot in New York Another excellent Edublogs
This is the day from Megan and Aysha viewpoint
The late afternoon saw the entire squadron of John Cabot Academy students and staff descend on 5th Avenue to prowl the famous stores and admire the glamorous storefronts. Mostly, our students seemed to favour Abercrombie and Fitch, the Apple Store and the NBA store (a fitting precursor to Wednesday outing to Madison Square Garden to see the New York Knicks).
We visited Times Square en-masse and took in the spectacular views right in the heart of the Big Apple. After a fine meal at The Hard Rock cafe we headed back on the Subway for a well-deserved rest back at the YMCA. More updates to follow.
VIth Formers visited the Federal Gold Reserve and were suitably unphased by the plastic bullion bar masquerading as the real thing whilst the rest of the students hit an incredible department store Mr Hall bagged the best bargain with a pair of size 13 Timberland boots reduced from 140 dollars to a paltry 12! After this we strolled near to the amazing construction site around Ground Zero and saw how NYC and America are building from the ruins with some fantastic designs for new buildings and the 9/11 Memorial Park.
Thanks for your visits and comments (we have had visitors to the site from Gambia abercrombie and fitch outlet, South Africa, Austria and England) the students are really pleased to know that you are keeping and eye on them and missing them.
