The London 2012 Olympic Games is around the corner. If you can be in the city in person, where can you spend your time? Instead of lounging at home in front of the TV, how about an Olympic cocktail or two? People love cocktails, not just because of the mixology skills of bartenders, but also because they prove to be a wonderful blend of sights, scents, and tastes. Every good bartender has his go-to cocktails. With the Olympic Games becoming an ever grander affair, bartenders will not miss the occasion of bringing the five rings together in a cocktail shaker. Feast for the sensesThese rings of five different and vivid colors are the element that is the easiest to bring to life in a cocktail glass. Our first idea could be a set of five cocktails, each one representing each ring. Respectively, you would have blue for Europe, red for America, yellow for Asia, black for Africa and green for Oceania. There are many ways to get these colors separately. For example, blue can be 1oz of Blue Curacao plus 4oz of Sprite; yellow can be made by mixing 1oz of vodka with 4oz of orange juice, black from 1oz of rum and 4oz of coke, green could see you bring together 1oz of creme de menthe plus 4oz of Sprite, and red might combine 1oz of grenadine and 4oz of ginger ale.Another way is to layer the five colors in a single cocktail, otherwise known as the famous rainbow cocktail. The rainbow could be the most beautiful cocktail, but it usually has five colors instead of bringing together the seven of its meteorological origins. Thus, it is perfect for the Olympic theme. The best concoction would be grenadine, coffee liqueur, Bailey's, creme de menthe and brandy. After mixing well, the bartender can serve in a tall cup, and show off the arrangement of colors demarcated clearly, for the pleasure of eyes and the tongue. If we say that the above two cocktails are clichés that most people could concoct, the following have been specially created. In 2008,Celine bags, in order to celebrate the Beijing Olympic Games, Sofitel Wanda Hotel once promoted a Five Flaming Rings cocktail whose "five colors" were more to feast the tongue than the eyes. As an advertisement promised, Sofitel blended five ingredients from the five continents to create a unique and universal sensation. The sensuous lychee juice represents Asia; for Europe, elegant Champagne from France; for Africa, perfumed rosewater from Morocco; for Oceania,Burberry Outlet, soothing eucalyptus honey from Australia, and for America, a flaming grapefruit slice to recreate the torch. Also in the same year, Kerry Hotel made a cocktail representing the "One World, One Dream" Beijing Olympic theme. The cocktail used martini as its main body before adding vodka, honey peach liqueur, honeydew melon liqueur and aloe juice. It then blended champagne for a final touch, making the taste smoother and more even. The body of the cocktail is fairy green, wherein small five colored rings are dipped in the martini. It is said that the five rings are made of five famous liquids in a special technique. For this year's Olympic Games in London, Kerry Hotel has brought out a range of eight cocktails featuring fruity flavors and amazing colors, five of which are based on gin. "If you have a slight knowledge about cocktails, you would know the close relationship between gin and London," Mr. Le, a bartender from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,Cheap true religion jeans, told the Global Times. "Most gin comes from London. If you want to find some cocktails that have a 'British' quality, then you must start with gin," Le siad. These five gin-based drinks are flavored with various juices, each offering a uniquely different yet pleasant taste. Sipping on a sweet, blue cooler served over crushed ice, may give you a closer feeling of what the Olympic slogan "Inspire a Generation" means. Urban inspirationsPink Lady is also a cocktail that has its roots in the Big Smoke. This Lady was known as a traditional drink for ladies after being created in 1912. At that time, a living theater named Pink Lady was performing in London, and a romantic bartender made this cocktail specially for its leading lady. This pink drink is made from grenadine, egg white and lemonade, and has a mixed sweet and spicy flavor. It is said that a Pink Lady is a perfect match for a woman in love, true religion jeans discounts, which is also beautifully bittersweet. During the Olympic Games, it may also suit men who undergo the bittersweet fate of being sports fans.In 1924, there was a cocktail made for celebrating the Paris Olympic Games, but boringly named the Olympic. It was created by the renowned Regent Hotel in Paris. To make it, shake up 1.5oz brandy, 0.5oz orange curacao and 0.25oz orange juice, as well as ice, and serve fresh. The special slight bitter of the orange curacao is properly set off by the sweetness of orange juice, bottega veneta handbags, while taking on the strength and fragrance of the brandy. Also, true religion boots, in 1964, a cocktail named My Tokyo won the top prize at a cocktail competition for commemorating the Tokyo Olympiad. My Tokyo also uses orange Curacao and orange juice, but replaces the brandy with whisky.
