Manchester Police plain clothes officers arrest three on drug charges
on September 14, plain clothes officers observed a suspicious vehicle parked in an area of Concord Street, east of Maple Street. When the officers investigated they observed a male on a bicycle approach the driver's side of the car and briefly engage in an exchange with the male operator the police blog said.
Police identified the bicyclist as Jose Perez-Leon, 26. He was found to be in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash and two small baggies of the narcotic drug, heroin, the blog said. After further investigation Perez-Leon was arrested for possession of the drug with intent to distribute.
Police stopped one of the vehicles on Douglas Street and the driver at first gave the officers a false name, but was later identified as James Canney, 48. He was arrested after officers found a small baggie of heroin in the vehicle. Canney was charged with Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Disobeying a Police Officer and Operating after Suspension.
Police said the passenger in the vehicle, identified as Adam Smart, 26, was arrested on several warrants out of several communities for Receiving Stolen Property, Theft by Deception, Burglary, Bail Jumping and Operating after Suspension.
